The Kendall County A&M University Mothers’ Club was charted with eleven members and the installation of officers on August 3, 1993, at St Helena’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall: President—Mary Krwawicz; Vice President—Gloria Beckett; Secretary—Celeste Draeger; Treasurer—Deborah Pendley. Special Guest for the installation was Ms. Mina Lasswell Russell, the first Corresponding Secretary in 1948-49 for the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Club.
The Club supports our students through scholarships, goodie boxes during final exam weeks of the fall and spring semesters, mailings of birthday cards, donations to various on-campus student organizations, and with a gift at graduation.
Scholarship funds have been provided throughout the years by membership dues, candy sales, jewelry sales, boutique sales, arts & craft shows, and since 1994, an annual golf tournament which is the major fundraiser each year. In 1997, the Hill Country Aggie Club joined with us for the golf tournament.
Through programs at our monthly meetings, Moms learn about opportunities and services offered to our students, about the history and lifestyle of Texas A&M, and much more. They get a chance to brag on their Aggies and/or share concerns, share wisdom and experiences with each other.
Our club hosted the District 8 Meeting of the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Club on March 21, 1998, at Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club with 67 in attendance.
